Financial Analyst & Underwriter (Self-Storage) (TPA)
The Financial Analyst will perform in-depth financial analysis to evaluate self-storage assets. The Financial Analyst will provide financial and analytical support services, including preparing broker opinions of values, data input, valuation, performing market research, analyzing comparable properties, and preparing financial analysis for presentations to clients and buyers. The role is strongly focused on quantitative analysis and financial modeling matched with practical business application. The Financial Analyst thoroughly understands self-storage and commercial real estate fundamentals, can accurately underwrite self-storage assets without outside direction, and effectively manages expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, underwrite, and forecast property cash flows and valuations using Excel or Argus analysis
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial underwriting models for commercial real estate asset valuation
- Breakdown and analyze profit and loss statements and rent rolls
- Present and support analyses to clients and buyers
- Review industry surveys, benchmarks, and economic and demographic trends
- Actively assist in the research and proofing of market intelligence for marketing materials
- Assist with preparing and presenting the analysis, including graphics and charts, in a clear and concise manner
- Audit OMs and BOVs to make sure financial information is accurate before distribution to client
- Create and execute a broker financial underwriting trainings as needed
- Update and maintain comparables for focus markets utilizing multiple data services
- Organize and present data analysis, draw objective conclusions, and make recommendations as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- At least 3-5 years of analytical, quantitative, research, and technical skills in evaluating self-storage assets
- High-level experience working with Excel
- Must have excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills

- Deep understanding of accounting and financial concepts
- Possesses a thorough understanding of self-storage and commercial real estate fundamentals
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and the ability to effectively multi-task, undertaking a large number and variety of tasks while maintaining the highest work product standards
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Argus experience is a plus
